FBI Issues Warning About Violence From Black Extremist Groups

The great civil rights leaders of the 20th century absolutely abhorred violence.

I think that if Martin Luther King Jr was somehow able to see what groups like Black Lives Matter and Antifa were doing it would make him break down and cry.

Amid leftists using last weekend’s horrific, still-unexplained shooting in Las Vegas to plant the idea in people’s minds that guns are the root of all violence, unconnected to any discernible ideologies, now comes a reminder that the truth is decidedly less convenient to their cause.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reports that the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division is concerned about an increase in violence from members of “Black Identity Extremist” groups, particularly directed at police officers. The revelation comes from an August 3 government document obtained by Foreign Policy.

“The FBI assesses it is very likely Black Identity Extremist (BIE) perceptions of police brutality against African Americans spurred an increase in premeditated, retaliatory lethal violence against law enforcement and will very likely serve as justification for such violence,” the document read. Foreign Policy notes that the document was marked for official use.

The FBI report points to the 2014 Ferguson shooting of Michael Brown as the start of the anger and violence on the part of BIE. Police brutality only helped fuel the anger, the FBI noted in the report.

“The FBI assesses it is very likely incidents of alleged police abuse against African Americans since then have continued to feed the resurgence in ideologically motivated, violent criminal activity within the BIE movement,” the report read.

The Bureau cited examples like Micah Johnson, the black man who opened fired on Dallas Police officers last June. Johnson reportedly expressed a desire to kill “white police officers” out of anger over police brutality against black Americans. The FBI believes that Johnson’s actions were influenced over anger from the BIE movement, the report said.

“The FBI further assesses it is very likely additional controversial police shootings of African Americans and the associated legal proceedings will continue to serve as drivers for violence against law enforcement,” the report noted.

While this news will not come as a great shock to those of us who have been following the rise of Black Lives Matter and been concerned about people of power and influence, most recently the NFL, using their platforms to perpetuate the slander that America’s police are intentionally targeting innocent black Americans for murder, Foreign Policy’s Jana Winter and Sharon Weinberger attempt to delegitimize the document: But former government officials and legal experts said no such movement exists, and some expressed concern that the term is part of a politically motivated effort to find an equivalent threat to white supremacists.

A former senior counterterrorism and intelligence official from the Department of Homeland Security who reviewed the document at FP’s request expressed shock at the language.

“This is a new umbrella designation that has no basis,” the former official said. “There are civil rights and privacy issues all over this.”
